SYNOPSIS

  •
    • In a world...where the forces of evil threaten to control all magic, one man (and his friends) must stop them before it is to late...
    • WALKING IN F&T (FEARS & THOUGHTS)
      • CHUCK
        • missed the last two, I wonder if I'll be lost in the story - yep
      • MIKE
        • Not a big fan of the series, I have seen some of the movies, but never cracked any of the books...
        • Reviewing this thing would be like watching the premiere of the last season of Lost, without ever seeing the show...too much!
    • FIRST ACT
      •
      • In walks Professor Severus, into a room with Voldemort and his gang.  Already lost....
      • A floating woman who believes in mating with some kind of creature - gets eaten by the snake
      • Baddies making their baddie plan...and we get to the basics of this movie from a "muggle" perspective...l got that these were the baddies, I just did not know the details...
      • I saw the most recent film, and I was still lost through the start of this one...
    • ...LATER SCENES
      • Hiding Harry Potter
        • Good acting by Harry to play different people
        • Everyone flies off and gets attacked
        • Why is he hiding at his uncle's house, is that not the first place anyone would check???  In fact, are the baddies just waiting in ambush?
        • Speaking of that, the first big action set piece seemed to be over rather quickly...theorhetically cool, but kind of blah...
      • Show up at the house
        • a few people question each other, but that's it - all of a sudden we trust everyone without questioning them
        • We witness Harry kiss a girl, but nothing else happens in the story...must be prior movie stuff - I think more the next movie...I remember her a little bit from the previous film, but not a huge part...
      • Wedding - why?
        • We meet some very English people and their stories
        • Everyone scrambles
      • Hide
        • They go from location to location and I was absolutely bored.  Even though the landscapes were amazing, the story seemed extremely slow...kind of like making one movie into three in order to get people to come back two more time....just sayin'
        • I have it on good authority that the wandering in the book was FAR longer...
        • everyone has super Star Trek transporter capabilities now
      • Visit the city
        • Morph into three other people
        • Each gets their own mission
        • the most exciting part in the entire movie...
        • Harry using the spycraft...
      • Hide again - with a locket
        • the locket changes their mood and they can't destroy it - Remind you of a certain ring???
        • the girl is smart, the boys are dumb
        • Ron gets mad and leaves
      • They visit Harry Potter's home
        • find the grave
        • meet the old lady
        • Snakes on a pla.....old lady
        • Snake looked great!
      • Hide once more...
        • glowing deer - find a sword - dumb to dive in alone - rescued - Weasley?
        • I wish that there was a better way to invent the audience in passage of time in a movie...an audience can be excited about events and or scared, but sharing in a character's boredom just does not work...too boring!
      • Discover the meaning of the symbol
        • Most interesting part of the movie and I think holds the clue to Voldemort's demise...come on?!  Why would you even want the good luck charm (staff) that gets you killed!
        • Very interesting artwork to portray the story, I liked it a lot. AGREED!
      • Run - they are taken hostage - Elf saves them - Elf dies...
        • He was the most interesting person in the story so far and they kill him, oh well
        • Elf also was amazing, was the CGI or a puppet in the end?  We have come a long way since Gollum, which was still good...
      • Voldemort get the wand from the grave - the end....

    • RANDOM THOUGHTS
      • Wow, I really have to go and watch the other two in order to understand what the hell just happened, guess this part of their marketing worked on me.
      • There's no way that professor Severus is a bad guy!  Come on Hans!!!
      • Much like the other Harry Potter movies I have seen, they are all very derivitave...so much LOTR in there...
      • I will read the books one day - deal with the wife...
    • ...THE ACTORS
      • Alan Rickman - I like him as an actor, but I can never get Die Hard out my mind when I see any of his roles.
    •
      QUESTIONS:
      • Any real questions probably have to do with the novel itself...this is just such a hard thing to do...
    • THE MACGUFFIN:
      • The sword, the locket, the !!!!!  Everything has some kind of meaning as pivotal to the story, but I guess I would pick the locket.
      • Yeah, I would guess that the ultimate MacGuffin is Mr. Potter Himself...
    • Sponsorships
      • London

    • Quote of the movie
      • "the end"
    •  CLOSING THOUGHTS
      CHUCK Rating: 2.5
      • Positives
        • Always interesting to see how the creators of the Harry Potter series film, love the scenery.
      • Negatives
        • Without seeing the prior two movies I really didn't care what the heck happened.  If I had seen the previous two I'm sure I would have been a lot more excited...but then i would have been even more disappointed since the movie was so slow.
        • Just watched the Order of the Phoenix and really enjoyed it...yep this movie was nothing like that.
    • MIKE Rating: 3.0
      • Positives
        • I got it, the basics of the plot, without much background, and the filmmakers did not spend 15 minutes summing up "Previously on Harry Potter..." I give serious props for just going for it and not pandering to those "new to the franchise."
        • It was a well made movie
        • Charactert effects were outstanding
      • Negatives
        • I am not a Potter(movie)  Fan...there is an aesthetic that I don't really like about it...close to the reason that i am not a fan of Tim Burton's work - I am trying not to let that influence me, but that is really hard.
        • So many reference that I did not get...I understood that it was a reference, but I don't have the knowledge to apply it...
        • Because of the above, I just was not "with" the characters...I did not care that much about them or what happened...just along for the ride.
